Since its debut in 2007, Galle Literary Festival has grown into a multidisciplinary celebration of creativity, welcoming writers, poets, artists, chefs, architects, and performers from around the world. It’s a cultural feast that transforms Galle’s charming fort and its surrounds into a hub of inspiration and dialogue.

Alexander McCall Smith aptly described it as “one of the most engaging literary festivals in the world.” This year’s lineup promises an eclectic mix of events to inspire, educate, and entertain.

Brotherless Night
Friday, February 7, 9am–10am

Hall de Galle hosts 2025 winner of the Womens Prize for Fiction, V.V. Ganeshananthan in conversation with Shyam Selvadurai. The session delves into Ganeshananthan’s poignant novel, Brotherless Night, which explores the the Sri Lankan civil war from a Tamil perspective. Book here.

Tattoo: Reclaiming Ancestral Traditions
Friday, February 7, 3.15pm – 4.15pm

Weaving Demonstration, Tallentire House

Thursday, Feb 6th from 6pm - 7pm

Master weaver Shamji Vankar Vishram Valji from India’s Bhujodi region brings the art of slow textiles to life. This lecture and demonstration offer a rare glimpse into the beauty of traditional weaving, spinning and dyeing, with a chance to purchase his fabrics afterwards. Sashi Perera Live

Catch Sri Lankan-Australian comedian Sashi Perera at Hall de Galle.  In 2023, she was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival for her debut show Endings which sold out its runs in Australia and the UK. Includes a complementary cocktail. Book here.
